GIVING BACK

National Junior Tennis and Learning
Through more than 500 nonprofit youth development organizations, the NJTL network provides free or low-cost tennis and education programming to more than 225,000
under-resourced youth.

THE MISSION OF THE USTA FOUNDATION IS TO BRING TENNIS AND EDUCATION TOGETHER TO CHANGE LIVES.

Using this powerful combination, we help serve up dreams for under-resourced youth; individuals with disabilities; and wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans and their families.

Studies have shown that youth who play tennis are healthier and less prone to risky behaviors like binge drinking and cigarette smoking. They are also less likely to be overweight or at-risk for being overweight.

To that end, we support programs nationwide that leverage tennis and education to help those in need, primarily through the National Junior Tennis & Learning network, and also through our efforts to assist
Military Heroes and individuals with disabilities under the banner of Adaptive Tennis.

Our efforts are making a difference. To date, we have awarded more than $19 million in
Grants and Scholarships to more than 270 programs, benefiting thousands of children and adults through tennis, education and health curricula.

It's the kind of difference that translates into more fulfilled and happier individuals and better, more vital communities.

Community Highlight of the Month

Bob Spilman and the University Club of Memphis

Bob Spilman and the University Club of Memphis gave back in a BIG way to the local Community Tennis Association this month. The University Club of Memphis won a $750 grant from USTA Tennessee for hosting the most play days in Tennessee for 2014. They are donating that money to the Memphis Tennis Association to put back into junior programming. With this gift, the Memphis Tennis Association will be providing Scholarships for players to participate in Junior Team Tennis along with other great initiatives to grow the game. Thank you to Bob Spilman and The University Club of Memphis for your generosity and for your contribution to the growth of tennis in Tennessee!

Would you like to recognize a super volunteer in your CTA or community?

We would like to highlight them in our next newsletter!
