We appreciate the tireless effort of the volunteers and administrators that lead our non-profit CTA organizations in Tennessee.

USTA Tennessee is truly grateful to all of the dedicated people that make tennis possible across the state. Tennis would not prosper here if it were not for the organizations, volunteers, players, officials, tennis enthusiasts, parents and the many more who work on a daily basis to
promote the sport we all love!

USTA Tennessee honors those people every year who have gone above and beyond on and off the court to promote and grow tennis in our state!

USTA Coaches Workshops
USTA Tennessee knows that behind every great player is a great coach. We have resources and workshops available for continuing or beginning coaches education. Tennessee is lucky to have Karl Davies as the USTA Southern TN Representative. Karl is also a national trainer for the USTA. Karl as well as other USTA TN staff are available to hold workshops and training sessions in your area.

JUNIOR TENNIS

You can have tennis in your local schools!
USTA Schools Tennis provides in-school and extracurricular programming for students in grades K-12.  The primary goals of the program are a positive first-time experience, perceived competence, fun and fitness.  Another important element is to help schools meet their health and wellness requirements.  The program offers training, curriculum materials, access to major discounts on kid-friendly equipment and staff support. 


 

Every day, the USTA and its partners help kids learn not just a sport, but self-confidence, sportsmanship, and the habits of an active, healthy lifestyle  We are committed to making sure that all kids have an opportunity to play and learn from this sport of a lifetime!!

10U Developmental Training Camps

These are fun and engaging tennis camps conducted by some of the best local Tennis Professionals. This program is the first step for USTA Player Development to identify talent and promote 10 and under tennis growth. Participants will be grouped by skill level and guided through a series of athletic testing, motor skills, on-court instruction, and fun games by the area's best 10U coaches. USTA TN 10U Developmental Camp is perfect for all kids ages 6-10 from those with little tennis training to the more advanced level tournament player.

2014 Junior Tournament Info

The 10 and Under Circuit Series is back. Facilities across the state will be hosting one day tournaments for boys and girls aged 10 and under. Players collect points based on results and participation and the top 4 boys and 4 girls from each area will be invited to play in the Masters Series Final in Nashville. The top 8 finishers in both the boys and girls divisions with the most accumulated points from ALL events (including the Masters Final) will be awarded with a Grand Prize, playing the 10U Grand Slam Final alongside professional tennis players at the Memphis ATP Tour event in February!

  

In 2014, USTA Tennessee will host 10-and-Under Circuit Series events in four locations: Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, & Memphis.
Each circuit consists of three 10U tournaments that will be offered August - October.

ADULT TENNIS
 

Tennis On Campus Tennessee Championships

The 2014 USTA Tennis On Campus Tennessee Championships was held at Old Fort in Murfreesboro, Tennessee over the September 13th weekend. Eighteen Club Teams throughout the South participated. Each team demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and a high level of play.

The University of Kentucky-A Team was the overall Champion in the Gold Bracket, defeating Auburn in a close final. The University of Georgia-Red Team defeated the Georgia Tech-B Team to win the Silver Bracket. In the Bronze Division, the University of Kentucky-C Team was the winner over Mercer.

 


 Thank you to the Club Teams for participating, and we hope to see you all again next year!!

Want Flex League??

What is Flex League? USTA Flex Leagues allow individuals to schedule matches when and where it's most convenient. This is a great program for new and returning players, players new to town, and players wanting to meet new players in match competition.  They are designed with your busy schedule in mind. You make the schedule. You set the time. You play when it's convenient for you. Flex Leagues provide all the thrills of league tennis, built around your busy lifestyle. With Flex Leagues, you can control everything-with the possible exception of your opponent's down-the-line forehand.
At this time there are two areas that are having flex league in the fall, Murfreesboro and Nashville.

2014 Adult Tournament Info


Tennessee Excels at PTR Wheelchair Championships


 
 

Unseeded Jeff Kegler, of Whittier, NC, knocked out the No. 2 seed Russell Rodriguez, of Nashville, TN, (2-6, 7-5, 6-1) to capture the Men's A Singles title at the PTR Wheelchair Championships held September 11-14 on Hilton Head Island.

Rodriguez joined with Cristobal Rivera (NY) won the Men's A Doubles. The duo defeated Harlon Matthews, of McDonough, GA, and David Rogers, of Charlotte, NC, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

Amy Burnett, of Nashville, TN, won Women's A Singles Consolation by defeating the No.1 seed Vicky Schmidt, of Grand Rapid, MI, 4-3 Ret (inj).

SERVING UP ACES 
Community Highlight of the Month

J.F. Kirk of Camden and Thomas Laird of Murfreesboro parks and recreation both received National Scholarships to attend the 2014 TDW Workshops in Atlanta on November 6-9th! Congratulations!
