Music and dance at the North Castle and Chappaqua libraries  Jorge Navarro brings Arts Flamenco, his NYC based musicians and dancers, to the North Castle Public Library for an evening of Andalucían music and dance this week. At the Chappaqua Library, the New Westchester Symphony performs a program of orchestral and chamber music favorites, with works by Copland, Offenbach, Bizet, and the theme to The Pirate of the Caribbean. The Furuya Sisters will perform the 2nd movement of the Brahms Double Concerto for violin and cello. Read more. |
National Ballet of China at PAC  Here's a special summer event from the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College. Direct from the 2015 Lincoln Center Festival, China's national ballet fuses classic western ballet with traditional Chinese dance, creating a style of ballet that is uniquely their own. Their program will juxtapose the familiar with works that encapsulate the Chinese spirit and experience. Godspell at Westchester Broadway Theatre
Godspell runs through 8/9 at the Westchester Broadway Theatre. This classic from Stephen Schwartz ( Wicked, Pippin), is based on "The Gospel According to St. Matthew". The musical, uses "improvisation and contemporary themes to illustrate the parables, and bring their lessons to life." The songs: "Day By Day", "Save The People", "Learn Your Lessons Well", "All Good Gifts", "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side.

Music in the Park - Lasdon Park Arboretum  The picnic gates open at 5:30 and the music starts an hour later at Lasdon Park's summer music series. Bring a blanket, lawn chair or grab a patio table for: the modern jazz quintet, Jon Doty and Friends who will appear this Friday, July 17; On Friday, July 24, members of the Ridgefield Symphony perform their summer repertoire of classical music. The Understudy - Lyndhurst Carriage House Theatre  The play opens with Franz Kafka's undiscovered masterpiece making its Broadway premiere. Roxanne, the stage manager, has the daunting task of running the understudy rehearsal. Enter Harry, a journeyman actor who just happens to be Roxanne's ex-fiancé. And then there's Jake, a Hollywood action star craving a little legitimacy.
