Author Talk and Movies in Chappaqua  Author Boria Sax discusses his book Stealing Fire: Memoir Of A Boyhood In The Shadow Of Atomic Espionage, that serves both as a scholarly history of a society nearly paralyzed by fear of Russia and the bomb and a poignant memoir of his dysfunctional immigrant family and his father who passed atomic secrets to America's enemy. Friday night at the Chappaqua Library. On Wednesday the library will screen Michael Apted's Agatha, a fictional account of the real life, never explained 1926 disappearance of murder mystery writer Agatha Christie. Jeremy Denk and the Academy of St. Martins in the Field at PAC  Britain's most famous chamber orchestra, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and piano soloist, Jeremy Denk perform at PAC this week. Denk, winner of a MacArthur grant and an Avery Fisher Career Grant is one of the most sought after soloists on the classical music scene. His 2013 recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations, a work he described as "the biggest jazz riff ever written," has been hailed as a masterwork by music critics. More PAC for Spring. |
Cassandra Wilson, Miranda Lambert, BS&T, and Europe 72  This week at the music halls: WTD Fave Rave Cassandra Wilson pays homage to Billie Holiday at The Ridgefield Playhouse. The Outlaws also take the stage there this weekend.
