Women and Heart Disease at Armonk Indoor Sports Dr. Sandy Lithgow, an internist at Glenville Medical Associates in Greenwich, will discuss lifestyle interventions that women can take to prevent heart disease in Women and Heart Disease: Living Toward Optimal Health. Local Basketball: Sectionals begin this Week Official playoff brackets for Section 1 boy's varsity basketball will be released later today with opening round games scheduled for Friday. All local teams qualified with Fox Lane and Byram Hills earning opening round home games. Fox Lane, led by All Section Conference 3 seniors James Morales and Andrew Redhead, is currently the 3 seed in Class AA. They finished at 16-2 earning Coach of the Year honors for Chris Violante. The 12-5 Byram Hills Bobcats, with All Section Conference 3 junior center Andrew Groll, are the 8 seed in Class A. Horace Greeley is ranked 18 in Class AA with a 5-13 record. This 2003 fable from Korean Director Ki-Duk received a 95% critics rating and a 93% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. (That's what we call nose-bleed ratings.) The movie follows the education of a young boy across five seasons at the hands of a Buddhist monk in his one-room floating monastery. Dr. John at PAC It's Mardi Gras time when 6 time Grammy winner Dr. John, the Night Tripper, takes the stage at PAC. Best known for his hit song "Right Place, Wrong Time," his 1968 swamp funk album Gris-gris blends New Orleans R&B with voodoo chants, and is listed #143 on Rolling Stone's Top 500 albums of all time. His 1972 album, Dr. John's Gumbo, that covers New Orleans R&B standards like "Iko Iko," is #402 on the Rolling Stone Top Album list. The Art of Video Games This new exhibit at the Hudson River Museum is one of the first major exhibitions to explore the 40 year evolution of video games as an artistic medium. Organized by the Smithsonian American Art Museum, it presents a multi-media look at the art and artists who created over 80 games and game consoles. The February music scene continues with a Valentine's Day performance at The Ridgefield Playhouse. Also on tap this weekend is Robert Randolph at The Ridgefield, Beth Orton and Diane Reeve at Lincoln Center, a 70's Soul Jam at the Beacon, and They Called It Rock (a dance performance to the music of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, The Who and more) at The Tarrytown Music Hall. Improv comes to PAC In what may be the comedy event of the season, the Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company brings their high wire act of improvisational comedy to the Performing Arts Center in Purchase. This power-house comedy troupe began performing in Chicago in 1990, opened their own theatre in 1996 in Manhattan and had their own series starring Amy Poehler on Comedy Central from 1998-2000. Though Kim and Kim share Armenian roots you won't be seeing the reality series star playing Brahms, Bartok, Vaughn Williams and Benjamin Britten in Purchase anytime soon.
