Local Basketball this week  Byram Hills' boys varsity basketball hosts Harrison and Briarcliff on Tuesday and Saturday and travels to Fox Lane for a tough rematch with the high-flying Foxes on Thursday. Horace Greeley hosts Rye on Thursday and heads down the Bronx River Parkway to play Scarsdale on Sunday. John Jay plays Carmel at home and Somers away. Friday Night Movies at NCPL: The Way Home This Korean comedy about a seven year old city boy's transition to life with his grandmother in a small village was the winner of Korea's Oscar equivalent for Best Picture and Best Screenplay in 2003. Kim Eul-boon, the 78 year old woman who plays the grandmother, not only had never acted before but had never seen a movie in her life. Art Show Bedford: 40th Anniversary Art Show Bedford features painting, sculptures and photo-graphs from 30 local artists (like this photo "Brazilia 32" from Kaz Stankowski). Preview them here. Bedford 2020 Salutes Lee Roberts Bedford 2020 and over 30 local groups salute Bedford Town Supervisor Lee Roberts as she steps down after 20 years of service. The event at The Harvey School Athletic Center promises cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, special guests and surprises. (Love surprises.) Event proceeds go to support her legacy program Bedford 2020. Hudson Chorale: American Voices Hudson Chorale opens its 4th season with a concert of choral works by American composers inspired by American poets. The Odyssey at WCC Smart Arts  Since 1949 The National Players, America's longest running touring company, have made classical plays accessible and affordable to millions of people across 4 continents. Here they take on Homer's epic tale of Odysseus' journey home after the fall of Troy. Complete with his adventures with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the cannibalistic Laestrygonians, the witch goddess Circe, the Sirens, the six-headed monster Scylla and the whirlpool Charybis, The Odyssey is the second oldest work of Western literature. Orpheus Chamber Orchestra with Noboyuki Tsujii The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, aka the PAC House Band, recently celebrated their 40th anniversary by releasing their 70th album. They return this year to the Performing Arts Center stage with a special guest, pianist Noboyuki Tsujii. Blind since birth, Mr. Tsujii was the Gold Medal winner at the 2009 Van Cliburn International Competition at the age of 20. This will be the first ever all-Beethoven program performed by the orchestra and will include Beethoven's Symphony No. 2, the Coriolan Overture, and the Emperor Piano Concerto. Sun, 1/26: 3pm. BHHS Pink The Rink Hockey for Breast Cancer The Byram Hills HS hockey team will play their annual Pink the Rink hockey game at the Brewster Ice Arena on Fri, 1/31: 9pm to honor those affected by breast cancer. There will be fundraising events at the game as well as a bake sale at the high school the week of the game.
