Friday Night Movies at NCPL Join LIU Professor Valerie Franco in a screening and discussion of William Wyler's 1961 film classic The Children's Hour, starring Audrey Hepburne and Shirley MacLaine. The film was based on a 1934 play by Lillian Hellman about two private school instructors whose lives are ruined when a troubled teen accuses them of having a lesbian relationship. Richard Gere Tickets are still available for the Bedford 2020 benefit screening of Terence Mallick's "Days of Heaven", featuring a conversation with its star,  and Bedford 2020 supporter, Richard Gere. Mallick won the Best Director award at the 1978 Cannes Film Festival, and Nestor Almendros won an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for the film. Spuyten Duyvil kicks off Caramoor at KMA on June 12
Sputen Duyvil For the first time, KMA and Caramoor will co-produce a trilogy of roots, jazz and classical music concerts. First up on Wed, 6/12 is the Hudson Valley Alt-Roots band Spuyten Duyvil. Stephen Winick of the Huffington Post called them "an eight piece powerhouse of guitars, fiddles, harmonica, bouzouki, lap steel ... and high energy vocals." Pack a picnic dinner, enjoy the complimentary beer and wine and spend a musical summer evening in the KMA Sculpture Garden amidst the enormous spruce trees and the ongoing exhibit of Andrea Lilenthal's Six Ladders.
