Hello,

Yesterday, Compassion Over Killing released a heart-breaking undercover video exposing the callous and violent mistreatment of newborn dairy calves at Quanah Cattle Co. in Colorado.

Most are these calves are male, unwanted in the dairy industry since they won't produce milk. Just days old, some even have umbilical cords still hanging from their bodies. They often arrive at Quanah's facility too feeble or frightened to walk steadily, and as our video uncovers, in the process of being moved on and off trucks, these fragile animals are violently dragged by their legs, pulled by their ears, lifted by their tails, kicked, thrown, slammed, and flipped.

COK is calling upon local authorities to file criminal charges of cruelty to animals, and we're heartened to report Weld County, CO authorities are taking this matter seriously.

Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture John Salazar issued a statement supporting an investigation by the local sheriff, and the Colorado Cattlemen's Association stated that it was "dismayed" by the video. Prominent experts from Colorado State University have condemned the egregious abuses we caught on film:

"If this facility had been a slaughter plant, the USDA would have shut them down."

- Dr. Temple Grandin

"These workers should be prosecuted to the fullest extent the law allows."

- Dr. Bernard Rollin & Terry Engle

Our investigation is also making headlines − on FOX31, NBC9, Fresno Bee, and more  exposing the callous mistreatment of dairy calves to countless consumers as well as highlighting the miseries that animal agribusiness is desperately trying to keep hidden behind closed doors.

You can take action today by sharing our video and letting others know that the best way we can stand up for animals is to simply leave them off our plates.

Our undercover investigators rely on the generosity of members like you to make their work possible. Please donate today so we can continue to expose the truth.

Thank you for your commitment to compassion  and for your support.
