DC VegFest: 10,000 People Strong and Growing
With record-breaking crowds of more than 10,000 people, including civil rights icon US Congressman John Lewis, this year’s DC VegFest was an incredible success. It’s the largest all-vegan celebration in the region, and attendees enjoyed free samples, a wide variety of vendors, dynamic speakers, and much more. And compassion must have been in the air because nearly 350 pounds of vegan goods were donated during our first-ever food drive.

COK Hosts First LA Vegan Book Fair
In honor of World Vegan Day, on Sun., Nov. 3, COK is proud to host the first-ever vegan book fair in LA! Join us for presentations and readings from several notable authors, including Matt Frazier, Dave Simon, Heather Lounsbury, Hope Bohanec, and Carolyn Scott-Hamilton. At this free event, you’ll also have a chance buy books and get them signed as well as chat with the authors!

Must-see: The Ghosts in Our Machine Debuts in US
The award-winning documentary The Ghosts in Our Machine will soon hit US theaters! The documentary tells stories of individual animals living within – and many who are rescued from – the “machine” of our modern exploitative world. They are the “ghosts” suffering behind closed doors. Don’t miss it: the film is planning an Oscar-eligible release in LA and NYC starting in November followed by other cities across the country.

Oct. 2: World Farmed Animals Day
Today, events are taking place across the world to commemorate World Day for Farmed Animals. Now in its 30th year, the campaign, organized by the Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM), sheds light on the suffering of farmed animals.
