Dear Friend Life-saving animal protection laws could soon be overturned by one amendment on the Farm Bill, and we need your help to stop it. Last week, the House of Representatives narrowly passed their version of the Farm Bill, which contains an amendment from Rep. Steve King (R-IA) that would wipe out major animal protection laws across the US. If the King amendment passes with the Farm Bill, Arizona's law banning gestation crates, Michigan's law banning veal crates, and California's law banning battery cages could all be repealed. And it doesn't stop there: every state factory farm confinement law, horse slaughter law, shark finning ban and puppy mill regulation law − along with environmental protection, worker safety, and other important laws − are all at risk. Take Action: Please make a brief, polite phone call to your US Representative at 202-225-3121, asking for help to remove the King amendment from the final Farm Bill. You can just say, "As a constituent concerned about preventing cruelty to animals, I would like you to please help to remove the King amendment from the final Farm Bill and oppose this attack on states' rights."
