Farm Bill Action Alert: Help Stop the King Amendment
The Farm Bill, recently passed out of the House Agricultural Committee, contains a dangerous amendment that aims to block state laws protecting farmed animals, such as California’s Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act (Prop 2) passed in 2008. The King Amendment, introduced by Iowa’s Rep. Steve King, could also preempt a wide range of state laws covering everything from child labor to dangerous pesticides to labeling of farm-raised fish.
