In a guest opinion piece featured last week in the Philadelphia Inquirer, COK’s Erica Meier highlights the reactions to the European horsemeat scandal and asks: “ ..how can we justify eating cows (or chickens or pigs) but not horses?” The op-ed concludes by encouraging readers to express their compassion by leaving all animals off our plates.

Los Angeles Schools Go Meatless on Mondays
Just a few months after COK worked with the LA City Council to pass a Meatless Monday resolution, the LA Unified School District, which is the nation’s second largest school system, is showing its support by launching a 100% Meatless Monday menu in all of its cafeterias! An estimated 650,000 meat-free meals will now be served to students throughout the City of Angels on the first day of each week.
