Greetings,
Here are some of my recent discoveries.
A Hudson River Valley school oil on panel in very good order with a period gilt cove frame recalls a summer day with a young fishing party by the shore.  Distant details of nearby fishermen and a hilltop manse complete this charming view. A pencil inscription on the back reads, in part, " ...bought in Springfield, Massachusetts about 1855..."
H.21", w. 27" overall.

A close up of the young fishing party.

In this 19th century oil on canvas the artist offers a rather comprehensive view of American country life in late summer.
Activities pictured include children feeding ducks and geese with a distant view of haying, hay stacks, horses, a barn, and suggestions of a town. All are portrayed in this country expression of idyllic rural life. Unsigned. Later gilt frame. H. 30" , w. 39.5" overall.

A closeup of the foreground.

An outstanding 18th century American or English pier mirror with mahogany leafage scrolls with gilt ornament in a pierced cartouche at the crest of leafage over beading, flanking garlands and a leafage mirror liner. Very complete and with the old plate and no over-painted gilt.  H. 35", w. 19".
