Mary Merrill was a three masted schooner built as a transport cargo ship in 1849 and was owned by Taylor and Company of Boston. This elegant portrait shows her flying American flags as well as the Mary Merrill pennant as she sails past the cliffs of Dover. Distant views include a sailboat and a steam side-wheeler.
