Our best wishes to you for the new year. Although busy with the holidays, we have continued to travel and otherwise acquire some very interesting pieces for your discussion, consideration, and acquisition. We always regret that painting or object that we did not act on quickly enough to make it ours. This year can be the time to move forward confidently and make those acqisitions that you will make your life richer and fuller.

Oil on canvas, 18th or early 19th century, Continental, of a young boy ( a prince, a merchant heir?) showing his emotions of interest and expectation as he focuses on his prey. Out in the woods, our young royal dresses for purpose, of course, in black slippers, white breeches, and a blue velvet waistcoat with a lace trimmed collar and pink silk lining. A treasured life is certainly ahead for him. As a portrait recalling childhood for viewers as well, the wooded background is well coordinated and quickly painted with broad brush strokes while the his face has detail letting us see this precious moment in time. The motion of his body, the skilled rendering of details in his face reflect the talent of this painter. Overall 39" by 33". Nice quality later gilt framing. A new year opportunity at $2800. _______________________________________________
