     Autumn is a perfect time for a visit in the country. So many recent acquisitions await your inspection and enjoyment. Today's hunt brought 32 pieces alone with more surprises for you on the way including choice oils on canvas, early prints, pastel, painted Italian furniture, French tole lamps and furniture, American folk art, and more.

  

Camatta comodino in layered old paint with gilt trim. 18th or early 19th cenury Italian. Done in the commode form, these are actually nightstands with three individual drawers each with blue original liner paper and compartments with ink numbered labels. Restored. $ 6400 the pair.


An early 19th century portrait of a pretty young lady in an Empire dress with a strand of pearls around her neck. Finely rendered pastel on paper. Probably Continental. Later framing. H.15" by w. 12.5".   $450.      


Above, detail of the dovetailed drawer arrangement and liner paper. Unique to my eyes and with pleasing old inked compartment numbers. H. 34.5", w. 16".

A tempting slice of melon with a fruit knife, 19th century, with faint signature in the lower right. Oil on panel professionally restored in upper dark area. This needs nothing and is ready to hang on your kitchen or dining room wall where summer fruit can last forever. Overall h. 11.5"  w. 14"   $ 1095.
