Greetings, We are always keen on finding the unusual and were thrilled to buy these two gems. The first is Napoleonic era early 19th century cartonage of wood, paper board, and painted and gilt decoration. This has surved well with minor losses with a few interesting rossettes, tassel ends, and painted knobs stored in one of the drawers. The bronze Napoleon is fastened inside with the original hand cut period brass nut. His iconic bearing casts a eye over those that might enter these drawers and lift top compartments. There is no end to the colors and imagination used to compose this example of delightful French taste. H. 32 1/2", w. 28". Also included is the companion wall box shown with de'coupage scenes. I'm sorry, I have but one of these. Do not hesitate.

This French gilt patinaed copper sign is, I was told, a vintner's sign with its corkscrew tendrils amongst vining scrolls. Of the 18th or 19th centuries, it certainly has great color and character. Condition is sound with a minor tendril loss. This was purchased decades ago from the outstanding California antiquarians, Dennis and Leen. I have shown the backside in the side panel here to allow you to see the handwrought iron behind supporting the copper face. Could this be the decorative gem in your wine cellar? Again, there is probably not another to find anywhere else. H. 28", l. 32".
