Spring greetings,
Above, an early 19th century oil on canvas of the Port of London ( noted on the barrel float ) is calming with blue sky, puffy white clouds, and quiet waters. This large canvas is impressive in its size and scale, including ships and boats near and far engaged in activities of this famous, busy early 19th century port. Framed in a proper antique gilt frame. Restored. Sight 27 1/2" by 39 1/2". Frame 36 1/2" by 48". $3150.
We just bought this late 19th century running horse weathervane. This is a "Dexter" type and of seamed copper with a zinc cast head. Remnants of old gilt layers show at corners. Typical evidence of age and use. The mounting base is heavy cherry and artist made in black paint. Length 28", 16 1/2' high, 3" wide. Stand length 32"x8". $1650.
This English Hepplewhite chest, circa 1785-1810, perhaps held a liquor set with a decanter on the incurvate base. Finely designed with ebonized line inlay, ivory escutcheons and knobs, this elegant piece has a interior of compartments that may have held bottles and glassware. Original brass castors. Height 29", width 19", depth 15" $1375.
