Greetings, Last week we attended the Decorative Arts Trust symposium on Charleston furniture, architecture, and interiors. Complete with private historic house tours and exceptional lectures, the program was very extensive and enjoyable, a truly great way to learn about the fabulous city of Charleston. We recommend that you investigate and perhaps join this terrific Philadelphia based group. Visit at www.decorativeartstrust.org .

The George III mahogany window seat that I just purchased is an exceptional model of this form. The shaped and molded upholstered arms have leafage carved crests with leafage details at the shoulders. The upholstered seat has a serpentine shaped front above the most fine legs featuring stop fluted carving (that is fluting with reeds) above spade feet. When purchased about the year 1785, this would have been among the finest models available. This could be great elegance for your hall, windows, or at the fireplace. H. 29", w. 45".
The five seamed brass candlesticks shown were made in Birmingham England around 1720. These are the rarer petal based type. H. 7 1/2". I have two pairs and a single available. These are the best for your period candlestands. To enlarge the images just right click and hit "view images".
May we answer further questions or supply more detailed images? We look forward to you call or appointment.
