MPH In Action

Pictured Above: Aren Koenig and Nora Porter, New York Office of Emergency Management)
On November 5, 2013 a team of four from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Center for Emergency Response and Terrorism, deployed to the Emergency Operations Center in Albany, New York to assist the state with donations management. Aren Koenig, a Project Specialist with DHSS and Public Health student, experienced the relief efforts first hand.

When asked how her experience tied with the MPH Aren said,
"Emergency Management is public health. Working toward my MPH degree while working in the field has helped me on both sides; being able to compare class materials to real life experience is invaluable! The flexibility of the MPH allows me to gain professional experience while continuing my education!" To learn more about Aren's deployment to New York click here.
