| Greetings!
If you are familiar with our mission, then you already know that we are all about second chances -- for people, for product and for the planet. We're equally thrilled, however, when we can help steer young lives along a pathway where a re-start in life isn't necessary...because they've already been equipped with life and vocational tools to succeed in the adult world.
That's why we were eager once again this summer to team up with a couple of fine organizations who advance the development of area youth -- MOED's (Mayor's Office of Employment Development's) "Youthworks" summer job program and HEBCAP's (the nonprofit Historic East Baltimore Community Action Coalition's) "Youth Opportunities." These outfits placed nearly 20 students into our multi-faceted retail operations for a full 6-week period of supervised job training and a financial literacy workshop.
You can meet one such gentlemen -- Avanti Brown -- most any time you shop with us. Upon graduation, he accepted a full-time cashier position on our retail team and has already proven to be a welcome addition to our customer service staff!
Congratulations go out to Avanti and his peers...they deserve it! And you deserve a big THANKS too...because by donating to, shopping at, and sharing about Second Chance, you make life-changing opportunities like these happen all the time!
