Greetings!
In our throw-away world, buildings may be meant to last for just 25 years. Shingles are plastic, siding is vinyl, moldings are mass produced, and old-world craftsmanship is nearly impossible to find. Second Chance Inc. gives old structures new life!
We continually work with homeowners, local and regional builders, architects, realtors and contractors to search out old buildings that are entering the demolition phase. We teach previously unemployed trainees new environmentally sustainable deconstruction skills, so we can rescue the wood, metal, marble, plaster, stone, porcelain, glass and other architectural elements that make the building special. We give these and other donated pieces new lives, in new homes, in new ways, with new uses. It's why we're called "Second Chance."
Do you have a possible lead on a home or other building that could be deconstructed and repurposed rather than demolished and dumped in a landfill? Give us a call at 410-385-1101 or fill out a simple form.
Do you want to see the cool and useful items that our deconstruction crews salvage daily? Visit us at 1700 Ridgely Street, right off I-295 and I-95 in South Baltimore.
Together, we can provide and enjoy more Second Chances!
-Your Second Chance Team

IN THE FIELD... Decon Action

As you can see in these recent pictures, when our deconstruction crews go to work on a home, they don't leave much of anything for the landfill!! The reusable elements from this home are now on sale at a discount in our warehouse....

AFTER...

"As someone who has always recycled - even before there were programs to allow for curbside pick-ups - I have such respect for the innovative programs of Second Chance. Their retraining programs may be in Deconstruction and Reuse, but they also teach us a valuable lesson about 'retraining' our lifestyles to use reclaimed materials instead of creating more trash for overburdened landfills. Here is an organization that gives us all access to quality materials at low cost AND keeps these treasures out of landfills!" -ReUser
