Hello Friend -        

With a new year comes new beginnings, and there's plenty of positive change in the Second Chance world!  As you may have heard, we're finally realizing our dream of having all retail and administrative operations centralized under one roof.  Granted, it's a BIG roof, but among other improvements you won't have to crisscross Warner Street to enjoy every department.  Now, doesn't that sound nice on such a frigid day?!

We're Moving!!!

If you missed the big announcement, please click here to read it.  We intend to remain open for business 7 days a week from 9 to 5 -- at 1400 Warner Street until Jan. 25, and a half mile away at 1700 Ridgely Street beginning Jan. 26.   

Due to the logistics of relocating 150,000 square feet worth of goods, we have needed to begin transferring select items and storing certain new arrivals at our Ridgely location.  We still have lots of goodies to choose from at Warner Street, but if you don't find something you're looking for, feel free to ask a staff team member if it might be at the new place. 

We'll do our very best to continue to serve you with excellence during this exciting (and daunting!) transition.  This is a very temporary situation, and shortly you'll be able to explore all our inventory in the same place.  We have the best customers in the world, so we know you'll understand when we ask you to please be patient and pardon any inconvenience.  We're expanding to provide people, product, the planet, your pocketbook, and our architectural past with more and better second chances!

You can track our daily progress throughout 2012 by viewing the counter in the left column of our webpages.  This year, in order to give a fuller accounting of our workforce development efforts, the "Labor Hours Created" metric will include our retail workers in addition to our deconstruction workers and trainees.  On that note, here's some more great news:  in 2011 we trained twice as many unemployed workers as the year before!

A Helping Hand

Does anyone know how to mine and/or process the gold and precious metals from computers and other electronics?  We get some items from time to time that are simply too old or damaged to sell.  Being a "green company," we loathe just dumping them.
