A Word from the Director

Dear LAMPa Advocates,

LAMPa's new mission statement is

"In response to God's love in Jesus Christ, we advocate for wise and just public policies in Pennsylvania that promote the common good."

Your advocacy did just that in 2012. Read through this summary of our many successes in promoting a hunger free Commonwealth, reducing poverty and increasing affordable housing in Pennsylvania. Look in your mailbox for our annual report that describes all we have accomplished. It also includes the Bishop's Appeal letter inviting your year-end financial gift to support our ministry of advocacy.  You can also contribute online.  Your gifts ensure we can continue to engage Lutherans to promote wise and just policy on behalf of the most vulnerable in our state.

Your advocacy and financial support will continue this mission in the new year.  The LAMPa Policy Council has adopted our new advocacy agenda for the 2013-14 legislative session.  It includes ongoing campaigns and new initiatives to reduce hunger and poverty, welcome immigrants and to preserve creation. LAMPa will soon be interviewing candidates for the Associate Director position. This position will enable our staff to better train, equip and resource your ministries for effective advocacy and lasting change.

Thank you for all the ways in which you respond to God's love by  engaging in advocacy on behalf of your neighbor and for the good of creation. I look forward to the ways we will continue to love, serve and advocate together in the year to come.

In Christ,

Amy E. Reumann, Director
