Ever since ConMet's PreSet hub assembly was introduced in 1995, truck OEM's have experienced the ease of its installation process. There's no need for assembly or bearing adjustment, the PreSet assembly just slides right onto the spindle.
Why shouldn't technicians in the aftermarket experience the same benefits?
In North America, roughly two million hubs either need to be serviced or replaced each year, and most of them are ConMet PreSet hub assemblies. This provides the opportunity to return these hubs to their original factory settings by purchasing and installing PreSet Aftermarket hub assemblies rather than rebuilding them.
Rebuilding or servicing these hubs comes with risks. Servicing a hub oftentimes requires rebuilding the hub by replacing bearing cups and cones, the wheel seal, and manually-adjusting the bearings. Improperly servicing a hub can create a variety of wheel end problems, which could include a wheel off situation, leading to the possibility of serious injury and up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines or damages. |
