Due to active wildfires affecting air quality in the San Gabriel Valley region, public safety officials and city staff, who have been monitoring the situation closely, have officially moved to postpone the 626 Golden Streets event to a future date.

Should Pasadena create a Housing Commission? A friendly debate
The public is invited to listen to a friendly debate about the pros and cons of creating a new Pasadena Housing Commission, to ask questions, and to weigh in with their own opinions. The debate will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, in the Renaissance Plaza Community Room, 649 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Suite 203 (2nd floor of Von's shopping center at southwest corner of Fair Oaks and Orange Grove). Moderated by Reverend Dan Davidson of the Rose City Church, debaters will include Pasadena residents Michelle White of Affordable Housing Services, author Jill Shook, Reverend Hannah Petrie of Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church, Charles Loveman of Heritage Housing Partners, Blair Miller of the city's Design and Transportation Advisory commissions, and Ali Barar AIA of Gonzalez Goodale Architects. Devil's Gate sediment removal update meeting
LA County Public Works will host a series of informational meetings designed to provide details on the Devil's Gate Reservoir sediment removal activities. The meeting in Pasadena will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, in the Rose Bowl Stadium Visitors' Locker Room, 1001 Rose Bowl Dr.

The city's Spring/Summer watering schedule runs through October 31. This schedule permits outdoor watering between midnight to 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to midnight on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

  • Got the local news bug? Just curious about your city (and would like to share news with 1,000 or so of your closest friends), consider serving as a co-editor of Neighborhood Update. It will only take a few hours a week (on your own schedule) in the month or two a year in which you'd serve. We'll train you.
