YOU'RE INVITED TO WPRA'S ANNUAL MEETING TOMORROW

Neighbors:

The West Pasadena Residents' Association's annual meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6. John van de Kamp and Mic Hansen will speak about Pasadena's history and character as well as the challenges facing the city during this time of monumental change. Mayor Terry Tornek will also speak in his first official event as the newest mayor of Pasadena in 16 years. Tornek was sworn into office yesterday.

The annual meeting, entitled "Challenges and Opportunities for Change," will take place at Sequoyah School, located at 535 S. Pasadena Ave. Sequoyah is situated near where Caltrans is proposing the SR-710 tunnel entrance will be, leaving the celebrated school with an uncertain future if that alternative is chosen. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments and exhibits by local organizations, and tours of the school will be provided. The official program will begin at 6:30 p.m. City Councilmember Steve Madison will provide an update on District 6 activities and a new slate of WPRA officers and directors will be elected.

Mic Hansen is a commissioner on the city's Planning Commission, and John van de Kamp is a WPRA board member and former California attorney general.

Limited parking is available on the Sequoyah campus and at the Pasadena Community Christian Fellowship (PCCF), both accessible via S. Pasadena Ave. Please do not park in the spaces marked for the PCCF's minister and his wife. Additionally, there is street parking around Singer Park at California Blvd. and St. John Ave. and paid parking available at Huntington Hospital at California Blvd. and S. Pasadena Ave. There is a pedestrian entrance on California Blvd.

The West Pasadena Residents' Association is an all-volunteer organization of the residents of southwest Pasadena dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the character of southwest Pasadena and the quality of life in Pasadena.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.wpra.net.
