Help "Connecting Pasadena Plan" design "the ditch"

Currently, an empty freeway ditch, the 710 stub, divides our city. Connecting Pasadena Plan (CPP) is a citizen-driven initiative that aims to develop a draft master plan for this 35-acre strip of land flanking the 710 stub south from Union to Del Mar and California and revitalize this "dead space." CPP will hold two sequential workshops on October 25 (at Maranatha High School) and November 8. Both workshops, to solicit input, will be led by architect and urbanist Stefanos Polyzoides and other transportation, economic and land-use experts. For more information, click on the headline above. Send RSVP to aokelley@msn.com.

"The theft of or tampering with mail is a federal crime. If yours has been, please notify the USPS at: usps.com and 1-800-275-8777, the US Postal Inspection Service at postalinspectors.uspis.gov and 1-877-876-2455. Also alert the PPD at 744-4241. Regarding mailboxes and avoiding potential theft, it's best to never leave outgoing mail containing financial or personal information (such as SS#s) in your mailbox- even if it is a locking box. Those can be and have been pried open or stolen altogether. Take mail to a USPS office or nearest receptacle. Be sure to pick up mail as soon as possible after delivery and know when statements and other sensitive materials are due. Locking mailboxes can be helpful in deterring some thefts and can be found online or at some hardware stores."

"The drought conditions are encouraging wildlife to venture into neighborhoods. A bear was reported near Glen Oaks near Woodcliffe Road on October 13, as well as a bobcat sighting on Stoneridge headed west. It is best to assume that wildlife is in our midst - no matter the time of day or how far from hillsides or canyons we live. Take precautions by never leaving children unattended outside, remove food and water sources from backyards, be watchful of pets and bring them in at night." To get information about wild animals (coyotes, mountain lions, bobcats and bears) in residential areas:
