SPECIAL

UPDATE

TELL THE CITY HOW TO SPEND
$300,000 FUND IN THE CENTRAL ARROYO

Dear neighbors:

The West Pasadena Residents' Association encourages you to attend a special meeting regarding the Central Arroyo:

Saturday, August 23

9 - 10 a.m.

Terry Donahue Pavilion at the Rose Bowl

A $300,000 fund has been established to pay for improvements in the Central Arroyo. Half the money came from concert promoter Live Nation. The other half came from the Rose Bowl Operating Company (RBOC).

The purpose of this meeting, which will be hosted by District 6 Councilmember Steve Madison, is to receive input from residents, especially those who are most affected by events at the Rose Bowl, about which projects should receive funding.

If you have questions, contact District 6 field representative Takako Suzuki at (626) 744-4739 or send an email to tsuzuki@cityofpasadena.net

Directions: Park in the northern most section of Lot F. Enter through Gate F to level D of the Pavilion.

BACKGROUND: On August 5 representatives of the East Arroyo Residents Association, Linda Vista~Annandale Association, the West Pasadena Residents' Association and the City met to discuss project selection criteria and recommend specific projects to be funded. The group agreed on the following:

Criteria for selecting projects:

  • The project must be located within the Central Arroyo or within the neighborhoods most affected by Rose Bowl events
  • The project must already be included in the City's Capital Improvement Program (See "MORE" link below for more information)
  • Funding must fully cover the cost of the new project or complete the funding of an existing project
  • Implementation must start within the City's 2014-2015 Fiscal Year (before June 30, 2015)

Preferred projects and estimated cost:

  • Equipment for Linda Vista Park: $25,000
  • Connector trail improvements in the East Arroyo neighborhoods (existing Project #77377): $130,000 to complete funding
  • Trail and rubble wall restoration (Central Arroyo, Project #77371): $145,000 to complete the repair of as many of the stone walls as possible. Some trail and wall repairs were completed in 2007 and 2009.
