Report Rose Bowl Stadium event-related issues in your neighborhood
Due to an unprecedented number of events scheduled at the Rose Bowl Stadium in August and September, stadium management and WPRA want to know about any event-related issues in surrounding neighborhoods. Call a special stadium hotline at 626-397-4141 and provide detailed information; you will receive a call back with an update on how your issue is being resolved. You may also send an email to upate@wpra.net. If you call the hotline and do not get a call back, WRPA wants to know.

E-waste recycling at Brookside Park
Recycle your old electronics safely and responsibly Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brookside Park parking lot (Lot I). You may also bring up to five boxes of paper documents to be shredded. Sponsored by the Pasadena Public Works Department, this event is open to Pasadena residents and businesses only.

The Colorado Street Bridge Party is Saturday, July 12, from 6 to 11:30 p.m. featuring live music, dancing, vintage Mustangs, children's activities, festive foods and more.

 

Fork in the road paving project
Caltrans will begin repaving portions of South Pasadena Avenue between Columbia Street and California Boulevard and South Saint John Avenue between California Boulevard and Wigmore Drive Monday, July 14. Expect delays every Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the project, which will be completed by mid-August.

Caltrans homes will go on sale this fall
The sale by Caltrans of 42 SR-710 surplus homes and 11 vacant lots will begin this fall. Although the public comment period ends July 14, a public hearing on regulations for the sales is scheduled Thursday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. in room 107, lower level at the Pasadena Conference Center, 300 E. Green St.

Free mulch for Pasadena residents
A new load of fresh garden mulch recycled from Pasadena Public Works Department street tree trimmings will be delivered to Victory Park Friday, July 18. Mulch moderates soil temperature, retains moisture and has many other benefits. Bring a container, gloves and a shovel anytime between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. This event is open to Pasadena residents only while supplies last.
 
 
Old Pasadena Film Festival offers free summer flicks
The Old Pasadena Film Festival is in full swing with screenings of 23 movies through July 27 at locations including Central Park, Distant Lands, One Colorado, Armory Center for the Arts and Pasadena Senior Center.

If you'd like to serve your community and do it with a group of your neighbors who are equally dedicated, the WPRA encourages you to join your neighborhood residents' association. If you live within our service area, we'd welcome your help. 

  • Got the local news bug? Just curious about your city (and would like to share news with 1,000 or so of your closest friends), consider serving as a co-editor of Neighborhood Update. It will only take a few hours a week (on your own schedule) in the month or two a year in which you'd serve. We'll train you.  
  • We have lots of opportunities to serve on one of our many committees:
    • Land use and planning
      If you care about how we use our land  
    • Education
      If you want to help save public education for West Pasadena  
    • Open space & conservation
      If you care about preserving open space and conservation of land and resources 
    • Membership
      If you'd like to help us continue to build our membership so we can do more
