City Council

7 pm

City Hall

Council Chambers

100 N. Garfield Ave.

On the agenda: Authorization of three additional "displacement" events at the Rose Bowl Stadium during 2014 and a commitment that the City will not host National Football League (NFL) games or more than 18 displacement events at the Rose Bowl Stadium in 2014. Background from City staff report: Recognizing the impact displacement events have on adjacent neighborhoods, the Rose Bowl Operating Company (RBOC) Board approved (and recommended City Council do likewise) a motion to limit the total number of such events it would pursue for 2014 to 18; the 17 already identified as well as one additional potential event. Although the RBOC also recommended that City Council publicly commit NOT to host any NFL games in 2014, the commitment would apply only to 2014, "so that the City maintains the ability (in subsequent years) to host NFL games should the opportunity present itself and it is determined that the NFL provides the most viable route toward the economic returns necessary to maintain the iconic stadium."

Last week's dog attack has not changed opinions on tabled ordinance

"While dog attacks can pose a threat in Pasadena as evidenced by last week's onslaught against a cyclist that resulted in police shooting three dogs described as pit bulls, two members of the Pasadena City Council reaffirmed their conviction that tabling the proposed mandate to spay or neuter all pit bulls was the right thing to do." Pasadena Now

PETA supports Madison's pit bull ordinance

"The animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) said there is no reason to oppose the proposed ordinance that would require the spaying or neutering of pit bulls in Pasadena. The ordinance, which would mandate the spaying or neutering of all pit bull and pit bull mix dogs in Pasadena, has stirred controversy. Hundreds of opponents filled City Council chambers Monday night and decried both the proposal and its originator, Councilmember Steve Madison." Pasadena Now

"The City Council voted Monday to revise its contract with the Rose Bowl Operating Company to 'enhance oversight' and pushed for a thorough and timely study of all the activities in the central Arroyo.
