ESPN Radio "On the Road" live in front of City Hall

The community is invited to Holly Street at Marengo Avenue -- just west of Pasadena City
Hall -- Monday, Jan. 6, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to be part of the special live audience for ESPN Radio's "On the Road" program focusing on the BCS National Championship. There will be three shows and attendance is free!

Traffic alert: BCS Championship Game

The BCS National Championship Monday, Jan. 6, at 5 p.m. between the Florida State Seminoles and the Auburn Tigers is a sellout. Parking lots will open early in the day, so expect traffic delays in areas near the Rose Bowl Stadium. If you live on a street that is barricaded during major Rose Bow Stadium events, get your 2014 resident vehicle parking passes at the administrative office, 1001 Rose Bowl Dr., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on any weekday.

Help protect the environment by recycling your Christmas tree. Place it curbside on your regular pickup day no later than Friday, Jan. 17. Remove stands, ornamments, lights and tinsel. Flocked and fire-retardant trees will be accepted but artificial trees will not.

Due to the high volume of content in the Devil's Gate Reservoir Sediment Removal and Management Project Draft EIR and requests for additional time to review the document, the L.A. County Department of Public Works has extended the deadline for comments to Tuesday, Jan. 21 -- an additional 15 days, and 90 days in total. Comments emailed to reservoircleanouts@dpw.lacounty.gov or mailed or faxed will be included in the official Response to Comments log that will be attached to the final EIR.

City officials and local residents join forces against sediment removal plans

"Pasadena officials opposed to a five-year, $70-million sediment clean-up of Devil's Gate Dam in Hahamongna Watershed Park, which they say could increase health risks and negatively impact local traffic, are making their feelings known in a letter to Los Angeles County officials pushing the controversial project." Pasadena Weekly

Pasadenans awake to city freshly scrubbed and almost magically cleaned

"Pasadenans awoke Thursday with very fresh memories from the flawless 125th Rose Parade and the 100th Rose Bowl Game in a city which almost magically shows few signs that hundreds of thousands of revelers filled the streets 24 hours ago." Pasadena Now

Celebrating the new year should include a fight for Rose Bowl independence

"A crucial and overlooked aspect of Wednesday's game was that in a way it was the last Rose Bowl as well as the 100th big annual college bowl game played in Pasadena. That's because with next season's jettisoning of the BCS system in favor of a four-team playoff, the matchup scheduled here in 2015 is so far known as the NCAA Semi-Final Game at the Rose Bowl presented by Vizio."Pasadena Star-News

Pasadena Humane Society set to open $20 million animal care center Jan. 9

"The center will include a new wellness clinic that will house a high-volume spay/neuter clinic, a larger behavior and training center, dog daycare and boarding, the Shelter Shop-a larger onsite pet store; and ample underground parking."Pasadena Now
