- What has happened: California Gov. Jerry Brown has ordered an independent, system-wide review of Caltrans. The review was ostensibly triggered by a reorganization of various transportation-related departments into one agency. However, Caltrans has recently also come under scrutiny for its management of construction of the $6.4 billion Bay Bridge following reports of broken and suspect bolts on the bridge.
- What you can do: Help us capitalize on this opportunity by sending a message to both Gov. Brown and acting State Secretary of the Business, Transportation & Housing Agency Brian Kelly. Let them know that you applaud this investigation of Caltrans and that we, in Los Angeles County, also have questions and concerns about Caltrans' handling of the 710 Freeway tunnel project.

City staff will present the direction given by the City Council to study changes to the General Plan. Planners will share the background on what an environmental impact report (EIR) typically studies, describe how a General Plan EIR is different from other kinds of EIRs, and share news of future opportunities to provide input during the environmental review process. Although these meetings are not part of the environmental review process, staff will record any initial thoughts on subjects the environmental impact report should study. The meetings are scheduled for:
