Willy Wonka Junior
San Rafael Elementary School presents "Willy Wonka Junior" with showtimes Friday, May 10, at 12:45 and 7 pm and Saturday, May 11, at 3:30 and 7 pm.
 
Celebrate the first anniversary of Reese's Retreat
Brookside Park's universally accessible playground for children of all abilities Saturday, May 11, from 11 am to 1 pm. Festivities will include play on the pirate-themed equipment, arts and crafts, healthy snacks and information tables. Fire Service Day open houses and demonstrations
All fire stations in Pasadena will host open houses Saturday, May 11, 10 am to 4 pm. Come out and meet the dedicated men and women of the Pasadena Fire Department.
  
LitFest Pasadena on Saturday, May 11, 10 am to 5 pm at Central Park will include readings, panel discussions, book signings, performances, children's activities and more.
  
Libraries will go low-tech
The City of Pasadena's technology infrastructure will go offline for an upgrade Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12. At Pasadena Central Library and all branch libraries, some services will be available and others will not. A dedicated page on the library website will be updated throughout the weekend as services come back online. 

Bike Week Pasadena
Explore Pasadena on two wheels May 13 to 18. All activities are free, including A Taste of Pasadena bike ride, Bike to Movie Night, Bike to Work Day, costume parade for kids with Mayor Bogaard and much more.

Pasadena 1940 Forward presented by Pasadena Heritage
On Thursday, May 16, three noted architectural historians will make a presentation at Pasadena Presbyterian Church about mid-century modern homes; on Sunday, May 19, take a drive-yourself tour of six exceptional homes in the Pasadena area where docents will lead tours.

Help raise money for Desiderio homes
Small Bites for Big Dreams is the theme of a Habitat for Humanity fundraising event Sunday, May 19, 4 to 8 pm at the University Club, featuring many local restaurants.

Celebrate the Arroyo
The Arroyo Seco Foundation presents an evening of presentations, videos, music, art, refreshments and more to celebrate the remarkable resources of the Arroyo Seco Watershed and River on Wednesday, May 29, 6 pm in the auditorium at Caltech's Beckman Institute.

Sewer Pipe Lining Project on Linda Vista Avenue
Construction is ongoing through May 31 for this project that involves lining about 4,000 feet of an existing clay pipe sewer that has developed cracks. Residents living on or adjacent to Linda Vista Avenue between Holly Street and Linda Ridge will be directly impacted. This is a project of the L.A. If you'd like to serve your community and do it with a group of your neighbors who are equally dedicated, the WPRA encourages you to join your neighborhood residents' association. If you live within our service area, we'd welcome your help. 

  • Got the local news bug? Just curious about your city (and would like to share news with 1,000 or so of your closest friends), consider serving as a co-editor of Neighborhood Update. It will only take a few hours a week (on your own schedule) in the month or two a year in which you'd serve. We'll train you.  
  • We have lots of opportunities to serve on one of our many committees:
    • Land use and planning
      If you care about how we use our land  
    • Education
      If you want to help save public education for West Pasadena  
    • Open space & conservation
      If you care about preserving open space and conservation of land and resources 
    • Membership
      If you'd like to help us continue to build our membership so we can do more
