We love indoor winter markets!
You'll find us in the excellent company of other vendors at indoor winter markets all over the city and suburbs from now through next April when the outdoor markets start up again.
You may not know that it was through coordinating indoor winter farmers markets in area churches and faith communities that I

became involved in local foods and came into contact with Tomato Mountain. Since I became involved with and expanded those markets in 2007--at which point they were the only area farmers markets in the months of January through April--many other farmers markets have extended their seasons. These markets are now coordinated by Faith In Place (FIP). Many neighborhoods and communities like Evanston and Logan Square have regular access to local farm goods in winter (and I'd like to think that "my" winter markets helped them recognize their viability), so now the church-based markets fill some of the gaps around the edges and in areas not otherwise served by weekly markets--communities such as Park Ridge, Lakeview, Beverly, Oak Park, Deerfield, Washington Park, and more, including those listed below.
Through November, you'll find us at these markets:
- Green City Market, 8 to 1 - Sat, Nov 17 & 23
- 61st Street Farmers Market, 9 to 2 - Sat, Nov 17 & 23
- Logan Square Farmers Market, 10 to 3 - Sun, Nov 17 (market is weekly; our participation TBD)
- Countryside UU Church, Palatine, 10 to 2 - Sun, Nov 17
- Immanuel Lutheran Church, Evanston, 8 to 1 - Sat, Nov 23
- FIP / Glenview New Church, 9 to 1 - Sat, Nov 23
For a schedule of the markets we attend on a regular basis, check this list from our website, but always check out our Event Calendar for the most current and complete information.

Our customers have been making suggestions, specifically for any acorn squash and fennel you still have on hand. Cristina L from Lakeview suggests an Acorn Squash Fondue--perfect for a Thanksgiving Day appetizer or an evening snack by the fire. Cathy P from Riverside found a dozen ways to use fennel...yum!
