Thanksgiving week delivery changes... 
and talking turkey (or chicken)!
 
It's time to talk Thanksgiving! As you sort out holiday plans with relatives (or if you're celebrating Friendsgiving-style), we want to make sure you get your CSA share in plenty of time to plan for Thanksgiving day. So we're going to bump back everyone's delivery days on Thanksgiving week as follows: 
  • Tuesday deliveries will be made on Monday, Nov 25
  • Thursday deliveries will be made on Tuesday, Nov 26
As always, if you have any questions about your delivery before, during, or after delivery night, feel free to give us a call or send us a note. And if you're planning on being out of town for Thanksgiving week, please let us know as soon as possible.

 


 

When choosing your bird for your Thanksgiving feast, take a minute to consider getting your turkey (or chicken!) from a known and trusted source. Here's a quick list of good places to get a turkey:
 
  • Mint Creek's easy online form allows you to order a pastured, organic turkey for pickup at Green City or 61st Street Market on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, or at the Dill Pickle Co-Op that following Monday.
  • Dill Pickle Food Co-op 
    The Dill Pickle Co-op hosts ordering and pick-ups from Mint Creek as well as TJ's Free Range Poultry. You'll need to head there in person to place your order.
  • Chicago's original local foods market is offering pastured turkeys from Gunthorp Farm (fresh or frozen depending on size) via their new online shopping venue.
  • Arnolds Farm     
    Arnold's is Robin's personal favorite farmer/producer for meat/poultry, with deliveries at various locations in the Chicago area by prior order--call or email soon for more information.
Along with these great turkey options, remember that Tomato Mountain has heritage breed chickens in the 2.5 to 4 lb range, which you can easily tack onto your CSA and provide to your guests as a unique and tasty centerpiece to your Thanksgiving meal.
