Approximate Schedule
11am ~ Arrival, introductions & lawn games
12noon ~ Setup for lunch
12:30pm ~ Potluck lunch
1:30pm ~ Farm tour with Chris (an hour or so)
Before, During, After ~ Strawberry picking

Strawberry Picking
Despite the dire conditions of the strawberries from rain over the past week, a few dry, sunny days have perked them up enough for the boxes this week and for you to pick. Let us direct you to the beds available for picking; we hope to be able to have you pick, eat, and take home as many as you'd like.

Potluck
We will provide grilled meat and drinks; please bring a side dish or salad to share. We'll plan a simple, strawberry-centered dessert. Chilled items are encouraged, but there will be limited access to our two house ovens for reheating dishes.

RSVP
We've received enough responses to have a general idea of how many to expect, but please call or text Robin (708-370-8017) if you have last-minute questions or a large group to add.  Again, if you decide on Sunday morning to come, please come ahead!

Ride Share
We've had at least one offer of a ride to and from the farm; if you still need a ride or would like to offer a ride, please contact Robin ASAP.

What to Bring
  * Folding chair(s) and/or picnic blankets
  * Frisbie, soccer ball, other lawn games
  * Hat and sunscreen (and consider wearing long sleeves and layers)
  * Close-toed shoes
  * Containers for collecting berries (we'll have open pint containers)
  * Cooler w/ice pack for transporting your berries home

Directions from Chicago
Take I-90 to Janesville exit 171B (US-14 West), follow Hwy 14 through Janesville, and in Evansville when Hwy 14 turns northward, stay straight through town to pick up County Road C (turn right). Continue on County C (jog south briefly at Hwy 104 to pick up County C), after 2-3 miles, cross County Rd E and go one more mile to Sandy Hook Road. Take a right at Sandy Hook. We're the first driveway on the right, with a big yellow house.
NOTE: If you need directions while en route, call Chris, 608-712-1585, or Paul, 608-558-5754 (Robin's phone doesn't work too well at the farm). The farm's address is N7720 Sandy Hook Rd, Brooklyn WI 53521.

WHAT'S COOKIN'

The kohlrabi literally wouldn't fit in the box last week, but it's coming in time to try out last week's  Chili-Dusted Kohlrabi Fries for your holiday gathering. Sugar snap peas are so sweet and easy; try them raw, sauteed, or baked.
