RSVP
Please RSVP as soon as possible so that we can have a close estimation of how many guests to expect. Even if you have told (or tell) your CSA driver, please send us an email.

Ride Share
If you are interested in sharing, offering, or accepting a ride from the Chicago area, please email us ASAP so we can coordinate with any employees we have traveling to the farm as well as other CSA members who have expressed interest.

More Info
We will have a little more information in next Friday's newsletter including directions to the farm. Click here for tips on how to make more of your visit to the area.

We're looking forward to getting to know you!

Community Supported....Fishery?!
I've recently become aware of a CSF specifically serving the Midwest. Sitka Salmon Shares brings together small boat fishermen (and women) from Southeast Alaska and Midwest consumers. How? A former Knox College professor, Nicolaas Mink, has helped these fishermen make the Midwest connection, and has the line-caught wild salmon blast-frozen and flown to O'Hare, from where it's delivered to customers' homes by a small army of Knox College students (including my nephew Will). Professor Mink brought a group of students to Tomato Mountain for a farm tour a couple of years ago, and Will worked at the farm briefly last summer--that's the extent of the Tomato Mountain connection. If it interests you, act fast--the deadline for this season's shares is.....now.

WHAT'S COOKIN'

Kohlrabi!  If you're new to CSAs, chances are that you're new to kohlrabi. I'd bet that fear of kohlrabi is what keeps some otherwise adventurous folks from trying a CSA. Fear not! Eat 'em raw, make a slaw with apples, cabbage or carrots, cut into sticks for dipping...or for making fries! Here's a recipe for  Chili-Dusted Kohlrabi Fries but they'd be nice with sea salt, too.
