Our first chickens at five weeks

noon (for both Tuesday and Thursday deliveries) will be delivered with next week's box.
These are whole, frozen chickens and are available in a variety of sizes with most in the 3.5 to 4.5 lb range. If you're receiving a chicken, be sure to have a cooler out to receive it if you won't be home to take delivery.
We're very excited about our foray into chickens. This batch of birds is Cornish Rock, not to be confused with smaller Cornish hens. And, regardless of the size, they should not be confused with stewing chickens, which are raised for up to a year or two and are often egg layers past their prime.
We're aiming for as much transparency as possible about how we're raising and processing the chickens. More information is available here for those who'd like to know more.
Some website updates
Thanks to those of you who responded to our year-end survey. We're gratified by the overwhelmingly positive comments, but we're always mindful of the need to keep improving. We're addressing some of your suggestions with updates to our website.
* Though still a work in progress, we've renamed and reoriented our recipes area. Instead of being hidden under the heading of Resources, they are now accessible via a tab on the home page called Recipes & More, and there are more recipes--and more to come. And wherever you encounter our crop calendar or other crop list, just click on the name of a produce item, and the link will take you to a page with one or more photos, some storage and basic cooking tips, and some recipes.
* Also under Recipes & More are Preparation Tips, which are geared more to cooking methods and which ones work for which types of produce. There's much more to come to this area soon, so stay tuned.
* Under the CSA Members tab, we've added Weekly Box Values so you can track the values for your share size from week to week, season to season. We'll do our best to keep it updated, and you'll find a link on the left hand information column in every newsletter.
