Hello Common Thread Members and Friends,

We have just two weeks left for the main season CSA and we are starting to think about 2015.  It's time to start signing up!  Members who sign up as an Early Bird pay 2014 prices.  The deadline is December 1, 2014, after which the share price will increase slightly.  Minimum wage is going up again in 2015 which is a great thing, but it will increase our costs.  

Signing up for early bird not only ensures that you have a spot in the CSA in 2015, it is VERY helpful for us.  It helps us to plan how many shares to grow food for and how much time we need to put into recruitment.  The share deposits also help us pay for seeds and supplies in the winter, before the CSA starts.  Even if you aren't able to pay the deposit at this time, if you plan to join, it would be really helpful to let us know that now by dropping us an email with your share size and pick up location.

In the coming weeks, we will be sending out a member survey, assessing the season and starting to make new plans.  Already, a few things are clear to us about next year.  We will keep shifting to emphasize the most popular crops while keeping a good variety of crops available.  We hope to drop one farmers market and grow the CSA to make the farm more efficient and viable.  We hope to add more CSA drop off spots at business places that have employees and/or visitors who would appreciate the convenience of picking up a CSA share.  If you know of any potential sites, please let us know.

Thanks to the generosity of our CSA members, we were able to offer 7 subsidized shares to low income members during the main season and 3 for winter shares.  We continue to ask members who are able, to donate to help make our CSA more accessible and help low income families enjoy fresh, local food in 2015.
