Hello Common Thread Members and Friends,
The first frost has happened and we are beginning to cover and store crops for late fall and early winter. We are ready to start signing up members for our Winter CSA Share! We offered a winter share last year for the first time. We learned a lot and had a good response and are excited to offer this again.
Winter CSA shareholders will pick up a box of produce every other week, starting November 11 and ending January 20, for a total of 6 pick ups. The boxes will include storage crops such as potatoes, root crops, cabbage, onions, garlic, and winter squash as well as fresh items from the fields such as lettuce, kale, spinach, radishes, leeks and scallions. The fresh greens will be more plentiful in November and December and the storage crops will make up more of the box in January, although we are planning on having some greens for every box.
We are planning a small and a standard size box for on-farm pick up and a standard box for delivery to Dewitt or Utica.
You can reserve a winter share by sending in the sign up form. We are able to offer a limited number of winter shares so it's best to sign up early.
Best, Wendy and Asher
