Hello Common Thread CSA Members and Friends,
We'll be starting the CSA distribution this coming week with the first pick-up on Tuesday, June 3. We thought that things wouldn't be ready with this cold spring, but between the warm stretches that we have had and the row cover we use to speed crop growth, we have lettuce, radishes, bok choi, kale, scallions, spinach and more ready to harvest! We will be in touch with CSA members soon with site specific pick up details.
We still have shares available and room at all our pick up sites. In this second year of our owning this farm, the CSA being fully subscribed will make a big difference to our ability to continue operating the farm in the years to come. We need your help in spreading the word about our remaining shares. Many thanks to all of you who have already signed up and spread the word to others!
We're still trying to decide whether to start at the Clinton, Fayetteville, and Hamilton Farmers Markets this week or wait until next week since we are so busy planting and cultivating. We might need another week to focus on planting before we can spare our crew to do markets, but we'll see where we are at in a few days. If we don't do the markets this week, members picking up at markets can pick an alternate pick up location for the first week or get two boxes the second week.
North Country Pastured is taking pre-orders for a second chicken delivery to Common Thread Farm. Orders are being taken now until June 6th for an August 9th or 12th pick up at the farm. For more information, please see their flyer.
We are still accepting donations (any amount) to subsidize CSA shares for low income CSA members. Thanks to many generous donors, we have been able to subsidize CSA shares for 7 families or individuals. We currently have 2 people on the waiting list and it would be great if we could invite them to join.
We're excited about the season. It has been so much easier to plan and start the season with a year's experience in this place and we're looking forward to lots of delicious food, great members to connect and share with, the learning journeys of our apprentices, and the beauty and wonder of the farm.
Best, Wendy and Asher
