Hello Common Thread Members and Friends,

What an amazingly beautiful spring week it has been - little leaves emerging on the trees, dandelions all over the place, daffodils and blue sky and sunshine!

Transplanting 2
Tim, Tom, Sam and Asher transplanting

We're in heaven.  And getting a lot done on the farm.  We now have several rounds of broccoli, lettuce, beets, chard, spinach, carrots, kale, radishes, arugula, scallions, and more in the ground. We planted half our potatoes last week with the help of volunteers (thank you Sam, Kathleen and boys!) and started on onion planting today.   Onion planting was interrupted by the beginning of a period of rain that we are grateful to receive, to water in all these now thirsty plants.

We enjoyed meeting several CSA and community members at our Open House last week and look forward to another Open House this coming Saturday, May 11 from 10 am to 2 pm.  All are welcome!  We'll give farm tours, have a few demonstrations set up and have some snacks on hand (including pesto made from ramps our neighbor picked in the woods behind her house).

Open House Saturday

CSA shares are still available!  In fact, we have quite a lot of shares left and we need your help to spread the word about the CSA.  If you could let a friend or neighbor know about us, post a flier, or pass on an email we would very grateful.   We also have a few subsidized shares available for low income participants. Also, if you plan to sign up and haven't yet, please send us a quick email letting us know (to help us plan and make our day).

It's amazing to think that we'll start CSA distributions in just a few more weeks! We're looking forward to meeting more members, having more people enjoy the farm, and of course eating fresh vegetables from the farm!
