Hello Common Thread Members and Friends,
The first seedlings are poking up though the potting mix in
the greenhouse and the trays are beginning to fill the
benches. Yesterday we did our third round of seeding with

our apprentices Tim and Sam and volunteers who came
out to help - thanks Walter, Joanne and Jenna! We seeded broccoli, cabbage, chard, snapdragons, lettuce, escarole, frisee, raddichio, fennel, scallions, kale, collards, and celery.
We're happy that Timothy and Samantha have joined us as apprentices this season. They both grew up in Fulton and have been working at the Green Planet Grocery in Fairmount, west of Syracuse. Sam has past experience in nursing, landscaping, and as a vegan chef. Tim has an English degree from Niagara University and has spent time landscaping and as a mentor and tutor for youth. Sam says, "I am excited to grow, just like our awesome plants!" Tim is "grateful for the opportunity to be immersed in a full season of learning."
Raven, our new dog, joined us about a week ago. In addition to keeping us company and enjoying everything to
smell and explore on the farm, we're hopeful that Raven will help make the farm less attractive to deer.

We're very grateful that many of you have signed up for a share or are planning to. We still have quite a few left, so as always, we are appreciative of help in letting others know that we have CSA shares available. Please feel free to post or pass on our flyer or brochure. Also, we're hoping to start a CSA drop off site in Utica, so if you have an idea about a potential drop off site, we'd love to hear it. We will be at the Utica NOFA NY CSA Fair on Saturday, March 30, 1:00-3:00 at the Oneida County Cornell Cooperative Extension Building in Oriskany. We welcome Utica area members and friends to stop in and say hi.
Our Best, Wendy and Asher
