4. Library News

The library is excited to announce it will host a student book exchange event during the first week of May! This will operate with a Bring One/Take One philosophy. During April, students may donate gently used books to the library and receive a coupon to trade in for books during the exchange. Possible books include novels, school required reading, nonfiction, textbooks, etc. This will be a chance to collect needed books for next year for free!  Please encourage your child to examine their book collections and bring unwanted books to the library next week.

Students are invited to celebrate National Poetry Month by entering a poetry contest sponsored by the library and Ms. Kruse. It is rumored a typewriter could be the grand prize! The entry deadline is Friday, April 25. See Mrs. Dronet for details.

6. Adoration
All parents are invited to come before our Lord in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel on Fridays during this school year. Spending time in the presence of Christ can transform our lives and our school by the grace of God. Parents can sign up for the Fridays and hour of their choice. You can sign up at this link, and more information is posted on the Campus Ministry portion of the school website. To receive email communication about signing up, contact Becky Neeson or Roland Millare
7. Electronics Recycling
Don't toss out those old cell phones, laptops, or ink cartridges! This year, Pope John is collecting used electronics, ink cartridges, and jewelry for recycling and will receive fundraising dollars for the technology department for every item donated. Bring your items to the business office and drop them off in the marked box! Contact Gillian Kruse at gkruse@pj23.org for more information.
8. Amazon Smile
You can now help out Pope John just with your normal Amazon shopping habits! When you sign up for Amazon Smile, you can link your Amazon account to Pope John's charitable account, and a percentage of each purchase you make through smile.amazon.com will come back to the school! It only takes a second to do the registration process and you only have to do it once. Let your shopping help out Pope John!

After you link your account, remember to go to smile.amazon.com for your purchases (all the products are the same) for the donation to qualify.
9. Fine Arts News
Congratulations to our two students who placed in the State TAPPS Art meet last week!

Raquel Ginebra got an Honorable Mention for her colored "Seek and Sketch" piece where she was given two hours to seek out a subject and sketch it with colored dry mediums.

Michelle Gude won the bronze medal for her piece "Perfection" in the black and white drawing category.

Both girls were up against the top 4 pieces from every district all over the state, so it was highly competitive with many pieces, and we are so proud of them! Great job, girls!

The choir that won a "superior" rating at State TAPPS earlier this month was made up of: Chloe Palmer, Megan Magallanez, Tess Hodges, Adrienne Agana, Sergio Pardo, Val Martinez, and Briana Arevalo.
