Prayer Line
At Pope John, our school community lifts each other up in prayer during times of need. If you have a prayer request, or to join the prayer line, please email [email protected].
Due to the extended deadline for raffle ticket money, the school has earned the first raffle holiday! There will be no school on Monday after Thanksgiving. We will have two more collection dates this semester for students to earn their free dress days during the week of finals. We only need around $10,000 more for the students to earn free dress - if every student sells two more raffle ticket books between now and December 10, everyone will earn free dress for the week of finals! Make sure to take your raffle tickets to your holiday celebrations and sell them over the break!

Below are your announcements for the week of November 25, 2013.
1. Italy Trip

We have 35 signed up for our trip to Italy for the canonization of Pope John XXIII!  This means that we have a FEW available spaces for those still interested in attending this once in a lifetime event.  (Sign up is strictly first come, first serve.) In order to secure your seat, submit a $95 deposit by clicking this link.  There are also payment plans available if needed.  Please contact Mrs. Brawner at [email protected] with any questions!  The price will increase on December 1st so be sure and register today!

2. Lunch Accounts

Make sure to check that your lunch account is current and not overdrawn! You can see this at myschoolaccount.com. You can also sign up for email alerts from the site to let you know if your account ever gets low.

3. Poinsettia Orders

Poinsettia pick up is today! If you do not pick your poinsettias up between 2 and 6 pm on Monday, November 25, they will be donated to the school. If you have any questions, contact Alicia Fernandez at [email protected].

4. Senior Yearbook Ads
The Pope John yearbook is now selling senior recognition ads in the back of the 2013-2014 school yearbook! Make sure to honor your favorite senior with a full, half, or quarter size page. Please return your artwork with the order form to [email protected].

6. Campus Ministry News

This Christmas season, PJ23 families will again offer support to the Foundations for Life and those families who've said "yes" to life! Often families who choose to have their babies instead of aborting them experience financial hardship and we'd like to ease the burden a bit! We hope to have carloads of toys to deliver! As you are out Christmas shopping over the next few weeks, please pick up an extra gift or two to make this Christmas special for a family in need! You may drop your gifts by the Campus Ministry office!

Many thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Millare, Ms. Meneilly, Mr. Catalanotto, Mr. Petersen, Mr. Caruthers, and Mr. Watson for your help at our Kairos retreat this past weekend! It was a huge success and we couldn't have done it without your sacrifice!

Students, it's time to begin signing up for our Kairos VIII retreat which will be held Feb 27th - Mar 2nd!! Stop by Campus Ministry to register!

7. Volunteer Opportunities
Pope John is hosting one of the cheering stations at this year's Turkey Dash, hosted by the Katy area YMCA on Thanksgiving. The dash will be a ton of fun - and we can help support the runners by cheering them on in Pope John style! We will be cheering from 7:30 - 9:30 am. Families that need scholarship volunteer hours may receive hours for parents and students who come to cheer. We also have four race entries available for the first people who express interest. For more information, or to RSVP to cheer or run, contact the Advancement office.
8. Electronics Recycling
Don't toss out those old cell phones, laptops, or ink cartridges! This year, Pope John is collecting used electronics, ink cartridges, and jewelry for recycling and will receive fundraising dollars for the technology department for every item donated. Bring your items to the business office and drop them off in the marked box! Contact Gillian Kruse at [email protected] for more information.
9. Adoration
All parents are invited to come before our Lord in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel on Fridays during this school year. Spending time in the presence of Christ can transform our lives and our school by the grace of God. Parents can sign up for the Fridays and hour of their choice. You can sign up at this link, and more information is posted on the Campus Ministry portion of the school website. To receive email communication about signing up, contact Becky Neeson or Roland Millare
10. Gala News
Our 2014 gala, Prom: The Retro Romance, will be held on February 8, and we are very excited for the 10th anniversary gala for the school! If you would like to volunteer to work on this amazing event, especially in the areas of item solicitation and attendance, please contact gala chair Sue Bruno at  [email protected].

Those who purchase a table at the Gold Level, to go with this year's theme, will receive limo service from their home to the gala and back! If you want to arrive in style, this is the way to go!

We are looking for all sorts of great items for the silent auction portion of the event. If you have an item to donate or know of a local business who does, please  return this form to the Advancement office. We are especially interested in items in the men's, collegiate, beauty, and evening-out categories.

11. Girls Basketball News
