Congratulations to the class of 2013 upon their graduation last Saturday! We are proud of the fine young men and women you have become and look forward to seeing how you grow on the next step of your journey. Freeman Photography took pictures onstage at graduation, and if you are interested in purchasing the photos of your graduate, you can follow these directions and view the proofs on their website. For more information, visit www.freemanphoto.com.
Please join us for an evening of wine with Msgr. Bill Young and the Board of Directors on Wednesday, May 29 from 7:00-8:30 PM in the Crosthwait Student Center. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the Board of Directors and learn about their vision for Pope John XXIII High School and their activities over the past year. Please RSVP by May 27, 2013 by clicking this link.
Our master academic calendar for the 2013-2014 school year can be found on the school website. The textbook list can also be found on the website under the academics tab.

7. Fine Arts News
From Ms. O'Donnell, retiring art teacher: I thank everyone again for the wonderful "team effort "it has taken to "build" this visual arts department over the past 9 years. I have been blessed to work with all of you and your creative students. I take incredible memories with me as I leave for Dallas with my elderly mother. Enjoy your summer! I will miss my art students!! Just a few requests for the art room: old "picture" calendars, plastic containers for water, small glass baby food jars with lids, old or new Mardi Gras beads for the Katy parade in Oct. Thank you as always!
Summer band camp is July 29-August 2 and August 5-8 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. Band members should wear shorts, bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and plenty of water as they will be outside much of the time. Students will need to bring their own lunch. For more information, contact Mrs. Elko at welko@pj23.org. |

8. Yearbooks
Yearbooks were included in tuition for all students this school year. If your student has not yet picked up their yearbook, they should see Mrs. Kruse or Mrs. Blanton in room 104.

If you have photos from any Pope John events from March 20 through the end of the year, please upload them to www.replayit.com (our password is letsgolions) or send them to the yearbook staff at gkruse@pj23.org or cblanton@pj23.org.

14. Cross Country News
Attention all returning and potential cross country runners:
I am very pleased and honored to be assuming the role of head boys and girls cross country coach for the upcoming 2013 season. Now that finals and the school year are winding down, I would like to set up a contact list of all of the students who are planning on running with us this coming fall. Please take a few moments to email (or call-in if you prefer) the following information to me so that I can begin to set up a preliminary roster.
1. Name and grade
2. Email address and best telephone number to reach you
3. The name(s) and dates of any summer training/running programs that you will participating in.
It is also my hope to set up an occasion in the early summer months during which we can all meet as a team to discuss my plans and expectations for the upcoming season and then afterward go for a team run.
Thank you and I look forward to working with all of you this fall!
