Submit an Announcement
To submit an announcement for the PJXXIII Weekly e-Bulletin, point your browser to www.pj23.org/announcement.

The Weekly e-Bulletin will be sent out every Monday.  Announcements must be submitted by Friday at noon to be included in the next week's bulletin.   All announcements are approved by Tim Petersen prior to publication.
Prayer Line
At Pope John, our school community lifts each other up in prayer during times of need. If you have a prayer request, or to join the prayer line, please email atm8789@sbcglobal.net.

Registration for new and returning students is underway and payment is due by this Wednesday, March 27 for the $400 early registration fee. After March 27, the fee will increase to $500. All parents must pay registration before an invoice for next year's tuition will be created for your family in FACTS.

 

Below are your announcements for the week of March 25, 2013.
1. Fine Arts News

The Music Department brought home Top Honors from TAPPS. All the music students enrolled in Choir, Band, and Orchestra participated in this event.  The Band received a Superior rating in their concert performance as well as the sight-reading portion.  We had 23 instrumental solo entries.  All 23 received a superior rating for their performance.  The following instrumental students will be advancing to state to perform on Friday, April 12th:  Sydney Braunreiter, Emily Yoder, Kyle Smith,  Jeremy Goethals,  Alec Smith,  Kevin Perilla , Michael Powell , Crispin Cory, Tristan Gallegos, Joseph Drewes, Shelby Racca. 

 

The choir students also did a fantastic job at TAPPS!  Out of our 10 vocal entries, we earned 6 superior ratings and 4 excellent ratings.  The following vocal students will be advancing to state to perform on Saturday, April 13th:   Adrienne Agana, Hailey Justus, Samantha Shulz, Chloe Palmer, Tess Hodges, Valerie Martinez and Samantha Mota.

2. Campus Ministry News

Thank you for your prayers for our Kairos Reunion Beach Retreat, held this past weekend! It was a wonderful weekend filled with great reflection, new friendships, and beautiful prayer experiences!

 

Seniors: We will have our Senior retreat April 17th at Epiphany of Our Lord church in Katy. Permission forms will go home after Easter break. We need a few parents to volunteer to help with serving breakfast and lunch. Please contact Ms. DeMois at sdemois@pj23.org if you can help!

 

Works of Mercy papers and hours are due April 8th for all Seniors. Juniors will be due April 15th. Please see the Campus Ministry section of the PJ website for details.

3. Comedy Sportz
Finally...the much awaited debut of our NEW Comedy Sportz-High School League has arrived. Please bring your friends and family to come enjoy a night of improvisational hilarity against our own faculty. Watch while 8 of our own PJ23 students compete against Mrs. Osterman, Mr. Catalanotto, and Ms. Pogue with wit, humor and who knows what else? March 27th at 7pm in the new gym. Tickets are only $5 at the door (donations accepted). 
4. Electronics Recycling
Don't toss out those old cell phones, laptops, or ink cartridges! This year, Pope John is collecting used electronics, ink cartridges, and jewelry for recycling and will receive fundraising dollars for the technology department for every item donated. Bring your items to the business office and drop them off in the marked box! Every little bit helps both the school and the environment. Contact Gillian Kruse at gkruse@pj23.org for more information.
5. Senior News

Sr. Class lunches: The Senior Class is invited to the half-café during regular lunch time, to share lunch with your fellow classmates and hear about upcoming news for the Class of 2013! Lunch will be provided and served by Senior Parents.

PROM News:

Prom will be held at The Tuscany Villa Friday April 19th, 2013.   The Tuscany Villa is located at 3330 FM 1463, Katy, TX 77494.   

6. Volleyball News
1) Open Gym held on Tuesday evenings in PJ23 main gym; 6:30 - 7:30 pm.

 

2) Spring Training is held on Wednesdays and Fridays, 3:30 - 4:45 beginning 2/27/13 and running thru 5/10/13.

3) The dates and time for Team Camp are set!  

Camp will be held at PJ23 this year in order to allow more players to attend and for the convenience of incoming players who will be new to the school.

When:  7/11/13 - 7/13-13
             9:00 - 11:30 (break)  1:00 - 4:30
Where:  PJ23
Cost:  $150 (Olympa Volleyball Camps)  + $30 (t-shirt and facility usage)

Please make your checks payable to PJ23 and note in the memo area that it is for Team Camp.  The school will cut one check payable to Olympa.
7. Cheerleading News
The mandatory parent meeting for 2013/2014 Cheerleading Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at Pope John. A parent or an adult representative must attend for the student to tryout. Cheer candidates are welcome but not required to attend. Meeting is at 6pm in the new gym lobby.
