Prayer Line
At Pope John, our school community lifts each other up in prayer during times of need. If you have a prayer request, or to join the prayer line, please email atm8789@sbcglobal.net.

The Pope John XXIII High School Community rejoices with the Universal Church in welcoming our new Supreme Pontiff, Pope Francis. In his first homily, the Holy Father challenges us to journey to the Lord, to build the Church, and to profess Christ Crucified:

My wish is that all of us, after these days of grace, will have the courage, yes, the courage, to walk in the presence of the Lord, with the Lord's Cross; to build the Church on the Lord's blood which was poured out on the Cross; and to profess the one glory: Christ crucified. And in this way, the Church will go forward.

At Pope John XXIII, we urge our students to "walk the walk" and to "make a difference." As a member of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and in his ministry as the Bishop of Buenos Aires, Pope Francis has made a huge impact upon the Church of Argentina with his commitment to faithfully handing down the teachings of Jesus Christ in both word and deed. In his selfless service to the poor, he has shown his local Church how to "wear the black."

We will pray for Francis, our new Pope, as he continues to be a model of fidelity and humility in his service to the Church.

PRAYER

V. Let us pray for Francis, our Pope.

R. May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.

Our Father... Hail Mary...Glory Be...

O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all Thy faithful people, look mercifully upon Thy servant Francis, whom Thou hast chosen as shepherd to preside over Thy Church. Grant him, we beseech Thee, that by his word and example, he may edify those over whom he hath charge, so that together with the flock committed to him, may he attain everlasting life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

3. Fine Arts News
From the Fine Arts Dept and Ms. O'Donnell, art teacher- What a great group of art parents you are! Our art booth in the PJ garage sale this past Saturday cleared $600 for us in the art department! Mrs. Hymes, Mrs. Wuenscher and Mrs Linquist, along with so many other art mothers, made this happen! Members of NAHS and art students helped in every way they could all the way to the very end of the sale. Your donations are so appreciated! Thank you again for your support.

Don't toss out those old cell phones, laptops, or ink cartridges! This year, Pope John is collecting used electronics, ink cartridges, and jewelry for recycling and will receive fundraising dollars for the technology department for every item donated.
