NEW YEAR - NEW OPPORTUNITIES!

As we face the beginning of 2016 and the thought of a whole new year in front of us, I hear many people saying "where did the year go"?  It's true that as you get older the years seem to fly by. I think because, for many of us, we are engaged in very full and active lives.  So much so that it seems that in a blink a year has gone by.  I look at each day as a gift and I am so grateful for the work that I am blessed to do that makes me feel alive and an integral part of the world.
We are faced with so many challenges in the year ahead as we watch the news and look for ways to create world peace, healthy living environments and opportunities for so many around the world.  This is a great time to look at not only what you want to create in the new year but to acknowledge all that you have to bring to others in the year ahead.

Last Fall, I had the opportunity to coach a group in Taipei to play a bigger game as leaders.  They came together and created a vision of how they wanted to make a difference in their country for small children in Taiwan rural areas for Christmas.  They created a "shoebox" Christmas for children.  They had shoeboxes and toys donated to fill 2,000 shoeboxes with small gifts.  Seeing the pictures on Facebook last week with hundreds of smiling children receiving their Shoebox Christmas gifts made me realize the impact I can have on inspiring and coaching leaders to make a difference.

Each of us has unique gifts to offer. And when we contribute in this way, we also receive great joy and a sense of fulfillment.  Take time to reflect on the following as you approach the New Year.

1.    What contribution can I make in the year ahead from my unique gifts and talents?

2.      What will bring me a sense of joy and fulfillment?

3.      What action can I take to create that contribution?

4.      When will I begin?

Gandhi taught us years ago - "Be the change we wish to see in the world."
What is the change you wish to bring to the world in 2016?

Wishing you all an abundant and joyful New Year!
